For the women who go to the hospital to give birth to their baby and then leave still wearing their maternity clothes, it is a great shock which sends them looking for ways to lose weight after pregnancy and delivery. Imagine being that first-time mom who goes to the hospital to give birth and comes home in maternity wear! There is the joy of your newborn baby to comfort you however and the thought that the weight gain was for a good cause. Believing that after delivery your body will magically return to pre-pregnancy condition is a myth.
Most women will have to spend some time and attention on their body if they want to stay slim after pregnancy.
There are many things that you can do after having your baby to lose weight gained during your pregnancy and stay slim. The first thing you will want to do is begin a healthy eating plan.
You may think breast feeding will hinder your weight loss efforts, but that is not necessarily true. Your doctor will have already talked to you about healthy eating and drinking plenty of fluids so that you always have a good supply of milk. One way to keep up production and lose weight at the same time is to increase your water intake. With just a few simple diet tips, you can lose weight and keep both you and your infant in great shape.
Perhaps the best time to think about starting a fitness routine is while you are on maternity leave. You will find ample opportunities to get some exercise with your new infant. Take for example times when the baby is fussing and your first inclination is to rock them to sleep, why not grab the stroller and go for a brisk walk instead? The motion of the stroller and the sounds of nature will soothe your baby while you get your heart rate up and lose some weight!
Mommy and me programs that are available in many neighborhoods are another fun way to lose weight after pregnancy. Community and fitness centers will also often tailor their programs for new moms. You can usually find childcare at the facility to take care of your child while you workout.
Have fun with your baby and get some exercise in the process; there are all kinds of movements that your infant will love. Dance with your new infant in your arms to rock him or her, instead of the traditional rocking chair. When your baby is falling asleep in the bassinet, use your feet to rock the cradle. You can even entertain your child by letting them watch you do aerobics or yoga. There are tons of ways to get exercise and lose weight after pregnancy. In fact, you can up the ante when the baby is a little older by taking them for a bike ride.
When the doctor feels you are ready, you can park further from the store in order to get a little more exercise. Use the stairs instead of an escalator or ramp and basically look for any way to increase your heart rate outside of an exercise routine.
New babies are a joy but they come with added responsibilities and stress which makes losing weight after pregnancy that much more difficult. Most women are more than eager to get busy losing weight but you must remember to pace yourself. It is more important to eliminate stress and get plenty of rest, especially in the first few months. This will help you tremendously when you start working on getting in shape.
If you want to stay slim after pregnancy I recommend to read e-book:
Michelle Moss: Pregnancy without Pounds. As Michelle Moss points out: “It’s true that…most pregnancy books are all about the BABY. They will tell you to eat an extra 300 calories and to exercise – but that’s about it. It took me a long time to find information about exactly WHAT I could or should do with any detail”. The answer is in Pregnancy without Pounds.
