Many obese people come from families with overweight conditions. A lot of people wonder if they inherited obesity through their parents. There is only a small amount of people with obesity caused by genetic link. Recently, a study was conducted by the American Heart Association to find out whether it is possible to match genes with a diet.

Study shows that about forty five percents of women carries the low carbohydrate genes. The study also point out that there are thrity nine percents women that yield towards low fat diet. Matching your genes with an appropriate diet can help you to realize your weight loss goal faster. The participants of the study shows drastic improvements after following the diet program matched with their genes. However, there is no guarantee that everyone who matches their genes with the right diet will lose weight significantly.

According to scientists, there are two genes that affect weight loss including CYP19 gene and COMT gene. Although fat genes play a role in obesity, it does not influence it directly. It doesn’t mean that you have fat genes so you are guaranteed to be fat all your life. The fat genes only influence the fat distribution. In fact, scientists claim that obesity is more likely to happen when you have bad eating habits.

Eating diet with high sugar and fat contents is the main culprit of obesity. You should not have an assumption that you will never lose weight because it is an inherited condition. It is actually the lifestyle factors that have caused you to become fat. Besides genes, the weight of the baby can affect his likelihood in developing obesity condition. For example, baby with high birth weight has higher chances of developing obesity. Though genes may affect your chances of developing obesity, your lifestyle pattern such as food choices, exercises and etc is the main factor that determines your body weight.

There are three types of body shapes based on the fat storage capacity. People with ectomorph body shape are less likely to become fat because they have low fat storage ability. On the other hand, people with endomorphs body shape tend to become fat easily because they have higher ability to store fat. If you have a mesomorph body shape, your body has a medium fat storage capacity.

For some people, they are born with a high metabolism rate. If you have a high metabolism rate, your body will urn fat faster. When your body can burn fat faster, you can easily lose fat no matter what food you eat. Even if you have fat genes, you can still lose weight by maintaining a balanced diet. By maintaining a balance diet, your body will get the nutrition it needs. You can live a longer life if you follow a low carbohydrate diet persistently. You won’t see result immediately because it takes time for your body to get rid of the excess weight. You can participate in an exercise program to help yourself make progress towards the weight loss goal faster.
